Tips on porting at&t wireless to sprint
These are based on my experience.
- Before porting, use *74 to forward your attws to another line,
so you don't miss calls.
- Get your phone bill from AT&T and give Sprint information
from it exactly.
- The information on sprint's request must match AT&T's data exactly.
for example "John SMITH" does not match "JOHN SMITH", and
"123 f street #46" doesn't match "123 f street # 46".
- In the above case, AT&T would reply to Sprint's request with a
"resolution request" stating only "name doesn't match".
Sprint would have to guess at how attws wants it to be written.
Even if Sprint guesses correctly (the capital letters),
AT&T will reply that "address doesn't match" and you'll have
to guess where that space is.
These request/resolution cycles should be only 30 minutes each,
but they're typically 1-2 days long.
Hope they never put a space at the end of a line...
- In some cases, the only way to find what AT&T expects is to call them
and nag. Call 800 243 6530, option 1, option 1.
(yes, I know that's for porting your number to attws,
but if you follow their instructions you'll follow the path to nowhere)
Even if they say 10 minutes, you'll be on the phone for hours waiting.
Expect it.
- Keep notes on what responses you get. Remember the "version number"
of their "response requests". You may need them to untangle something
later. Or for the legal action that will certainly start.
